Rail technology leader Bombardier Transportation is a Gold Sponsor of this year’s Metrorail conference and exhibition held in London on May 26 and 27. This is in addition to being a Gold Sponsor of the Rail Power stream of the conference. This annual gathering brings the world’s urban rail community together to share best practices and address industry challenges and future innovations.

On day one of the conference, Niall Simmons, Head of Engineering Bids, Bombardier Transportation UK, will discuss enhancing the passenger experience in metro applications. “With ever rising customer expectations, it’s important to understand how passenger needs of the future can be best met,” says Mr. Simmons. “For example, how can design innovation contribute to enhancing the passenger environment? Or how is truly ‘world class’ performance achieved, and what are the future opportunities for continued performance enhancement?”

In a technical on-floor seminar presentation later in the day, Scott Condie, Head of Product Safety and Reliability at Bombardier Transportation, will explore the subject of reliability In addition, Gregorio Acero, Head of Quality at Bombardier will chair one of the event’s roundtable discussions during where he will discuss innovation process best practices and how to bring ideas to life in the corporate environment.

In the Rail Power conference stream in the afternoon of the 26th, Magnus Forsen, Engineering Director, Propulsion and Controls at Bombardier, will explore how to improve the performance of current transport networks by introducing new drive systems technology into existing rolling stock. His presentation will include information on improving reliability and availability with new technology and system solutions, together with an exploration of the use of alternative technologies to reduce energy consumption.
