Chiltern Railways has been named the UK’s highest rated DfT franchised operator according to the latest National Rail Passenger Survey conducted by Passenger Focus.

Chiltern came out on top with an overall satisfaction score of 91%, beating rivals Virgin Trains (90%), London Midland (82%) and First Great Western (81%).

The survey, which is one of the world’s largest published passenger satisfaction reports explores overall satisfaction, plus satisfaction with the station and train, and over 30 specific aspects of service.

In addition, Chiltern was also named as the UK’s top DfT franchise operator in the following areas:

  • No. 1 for satisfaction with trains
  • No. 1 for the attitude and helpfulness of station staff
  • No.1 (joint) for satisfaction with stations

This survey comes at a time when the company has remained top franchised rail operator for right time train punctuality, further cementing their position as one of the UK’s best train companies.
