GWR’s depot in St Philips Marsh Bristol will open its doors to the public to celebrate 40 years of the High Speed Train (HST) on Monday 2 May 2016.

On display will be a range of both steam and diesel locomotives, including Intercity 125 High Speed Train locomotives from all over the country.

Highlight of the day will be the unveiling of a special livery celebrating 40 years of the HST.

There will also be an opportunity to look inside the depot buildings and get a flavour of the work that is carried out 24 hours a day to help maintain, refuel and clean the GWR fleet.

Depot Manager Simon Cassidy said:
“I am delighted to be able to open our doors to the public and let them see first-hand how we work to maintain the High Speed Train – and to celebrate the workhorse of the GWR fleet as it turns 40; and prior to the arrival of Super Express Trains next year, delivering more services, more seats and quicker journey times.”
